You never see the leaf of tulsi (Basil) in ganesh puja. There is an interesting story behind it. Lord Ganesha , his mother Devi Parvati was the most beautiful and perfect woman. He vowed that He could marry the girl who would match up to His mother’s beauty and divine qualities . Daughter of Dharmaraja, Tulsi, in her youth was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu . She would often walk up to the banks of Ganges and worship in the nearby temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. One day, as she walked up to the river bank, she saw a handsome youth sitting in deep meditation; he was Lord Ganesha. Due to the meditation, his growing aura added to his charm . Tulsi approached him and professed her love; asking him to marry her. On his stringent path of celibacy, Lord Ganesha politely refused her love and proposal for marriage. Citing he could only marry a match like his mother Parvati to his father Lord Shiva. This angered Tulsi, who was left fuming after her one-sided feelings were refuted by Lord Ganesha. Taking this as an insult, she avenged her pain and cursed Ganesha. She cursed him that one day he will have to get married against his wishes. Seeing her hatred, Lord ganesha too cursed Tulsi that in future she will be married off to an Asura (demon). Terrified of the impact of Ganesha’s curse, Tulsi, immediately realized her mistake and asked for forgiveness. After much her insistence, Ganesha obliged. He twisted his curse, in the form of blessing, saying she will be reprieved of the curse by the blessings of Lord Vishnu and be turned into a holy plant (herb). But he reminded her that she will remain unacceptable to be used his worship and shall remain distant from him forever. This is also a reason why Tulsi is never offered to Lord Ganesha . #Mythology#indianmythology #hindutales #Hinduism #Hindutva#Ganesha #Ganeshpuja#Tulsi

Homosexuality in ancient India❤️🏳️🌈 The Khajuraho Temples(Temple of love) These medieval temples famously include depictions of people in sexual congress, a demonstration of the importance of sexual interaction within the Hindu faith. Included in the carvings are a number of depictions of gay sex, sometimes in orgy situations where several women are involved in intercourse with a single man, but there also are images of men having sex and engaging in fellatio with one another. #lgbt #homosexuality #indianmythology #ancientindia #hindumythology

Although the word Vanara has come to mean "monkey" over the years and the Vanaras are depicted as monkeys in the popular art, their exact identity is not clear. Unlike other creatures such as the rakshasas, the Vanaras do not have a precursor in the Vedic literature According to one theory, the Vanaras are strictly mythological creatures. This is based on their supernatural abilities, as well as descriptions of Brahma commanding other deities to either bear Vanara offspring or incarnate as Vanaras to help Rama in his mission. . . . . . . . . #hanuman #hanumanchalisa #hanumanasana #hanumanji #hanumantattoo #hanumantemple #lordhanuman #ramayana #ramayanalovers #indianmythology #indiangod #indiangods #indianartist #artistsoninstagram #lordrama #lordram #handdrawnart #jaihanuman

Airawat, the white elephant and king god of elephants is the mount of Indra. Airawat emerged from the waters during the process of Samudramanthan. His wife is Abharamu. Another story is that, he was born when Brahma sang seven sacred hymns over two halves of the egg shell from which Garuda hatched. One of his name means 'the one who knits or binds the clouds' hence, the myth that elephant can bring clouds. When Indra defeated Vritasur, the demon of drought, Airavata reached down to the watery underworld with his trunk, and sprayed the water into the clouds. Indra then caused the watery clouds to rain down upon the drought-stricken land. #immortal_stories #ImmortalStories #india #indian #myths #mahabharata #ramayana #arjun #karna #ram #indianmythology #sanskrit #sanskriti #draupadi #mythology #facts #blogger #storytellers #art #artist #shiva #rama #indra #airawat
